Thread the cable into the hole. I would strongly recommend running it in conduit. Yes, it is nice having tv, television and internet in the shop.

Sound off in the the comments. If you’re running a solid copper conduit or pvc piping with the sealants on each connecting point, you could use a standard ethernet cable, but it’s risky. Make sure your cable is labeled direct burial before purchasing, as they're made with stronger waterproofing materials and can withstand rodent or larger pest damage.

Choose a direct burial ethernet cable for the safest option. When running cable in this fashion, support the ethernet cable along the entire length with zip ties every few feet as high wind speeds or freezing rain can do terrible things to cabling. Decide how much digging you're prepared to do, which determines the type of wire you need to use.

Which path you take is often dedicated by budget, skill level, environment, and more. I wouldn't waste the time unless you're in a pinch. Direct burial or traditional burial that requires running a conduit.

When it comes to underground/remote cable installation, it’s definitely worth the extra money up front to do it right (and avoid the headache of pulling new cable, fixing a sloppy installation, or otherwise doing the whole thing over at a later date).

Take a load off as he shares some tips and tricks. If the rooms in question are wired for coax, you may be able to sneak the ethernet cable down the wall through the existing hole in the top plate of the wall(s). Underground cable for running electrical power to a remote location can be installed at different depths, depending on the type of conduit and type of wire used.
