If the wire size is #10 gauge then you are going to have to pull new #6 wire to the outlet. The welder only has three wires coming from it and no plug.

You need to start a new thread. The white wire must go on the center (neutral) terminal. The only available 220 volt outlet on the generator is a 4 wire outlet, a l14.
Should be #6 gauge wire for a 50 amp four prong welder outlet. What i would do is not legal nor would any licensed electrician do it. So i have an extension cord for my welders, 25 feet, 3 prong to 3 prong.
This is a job for an electrician, and it brings the circuit up to code. Rewiring the trailer is not an option as the outlet is custom built into the trailer. Never fall for the big box store “handyman fix” and simply replace the plug attached to your dryer!

Can i simply just buy a 10 ft generator 4 wire extension cord, cut one end off and just install the 3 wire plug onto that cord? The old appliances used with such an outlet had a jumper between neutral terminal and grounding lug. Obviously the 4 prongs are 2 hots (x and y) a neutral, and a ground.
